Barcelona é fácil de gostar e difícil de explicar: Gaudí não se parece com nada. As frases abaixo servem para falar da arquitetura, pedir tapas e se virar entre a praia e o centro.

Park Guell

Park Guell is famous for its colorful mosaic benches and sculptures made from broken ceramic tiles, a technique called trencadis.

Casa Batllo

Casa Batllo's roof is shaped like the back of a dragon, and locals nickname the building 'the House of Bones' because of its skeletal balconies.

Sagrada Familia

Construction on the Sagrada Familia began in 1882 and, remarkably, is still not finished today - architect Antoni Gaudi knew he would never see it completed.

La Rambla

La Rambla is a lively tree-lined street that stretches 1.2 kilometers from Placa de Catalunya down to the waterfront, filled with street performers and flower stalls.

Barceloneta Beach

Barceloneta Beach was completely transformed for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, turning a former industrial waterfront into one of the city's most popular beaches.

The fresh produce here comes in every morning.'Produce' como substantivo = hortifrúti.

Vermut and small plates

Lunch at two, dinner at nine or ten.Horários bem mais tarde que no Brasil.

Bread rubbed with tomato, oil and salt.'Rubbed' = esfregado.

Sunday late morning, a vermouth and some olives.'Late morning' = fim da manhã.

Park Güell

It was meant to be housing. Almost nobody bought.'Meant to be' = destinado a ser.

More than a club

El Clásico is the biggest match in Spanish football.'Match' = partida (uso britânico).

Supporters fill the stadium every other week.'Supporter' = torcedor (uso britânico).

Living in two languages

Both Catalan and Spanish are official here.'Both' = ambos.

People code-switch mid-sentence and barely notice.'Mid-sentence' = no meio da frase.

Most bilingual people are stronger in one language.'Stronger in' = mais forte em.

Imperfect is the normal state of a bilingual person.'Imperfect' = imperfeito.
